The Malawi Queens closed their Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign with a 54-47 win over hosts Scotland to finish seventh.
The victory in the seventh-place playoff hit the exact target the Netball Association of Malawi had set before the tournament. The Queens stayed composed against a home crowd, capitalised on their scoring chances and held their nerve through the closing quarter to see the game out.
It capped a spirited run in Scotland. Malawi also beat Tonga 55-49 and got the better of Northern Ireland during the Games, results that showed the side can compete with and overcome established netball nations.
