Hearts of Oak came from a goal down to beat Bibiani Gold Stars by two goals to one at Dun's Park, ending a long unbeaten league run for the hosts and leaving the Phobians as the only side in the Ghana Premier League with a perfect record after two matchdays.
Kwame Opoku put Gold Stars ahead inside the opening ten minutes. Yaw Baafi levelled and Kwaku Boateng Henry scored the winner, both inside the second half, and the Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare then saved a penalty late on to keep the lead.
The Ghana Football Association recorded the defeat as the end of a nineteen match unbeaten league run for Gold Stars at Dun's Park. Hearts are top with six points from two matches, six goals scored and one conceded.
Kotoko get their first win
Asante Kotoko beat Heart of Lions by two goals to one at the Baba Yara Stadium for their first league win of the season. Emmanuel Mamah and Isaac Opoku Agyemang scored, and Francis Odoom pulled one back from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
Elsewhere, FC Samartex beat Aduana by a goal to nil, Berekum Chelsea beat Dreams by three goals to one, Karela United beat Bechem United by the same score, and Swedru All Blacks and Young Apostles both won by a goal to nil. The Medeama fixture was not played and neither the association nor the league has published a rearranged date.
What the table says after two rounds
Hearts lead on six points and Samartex are the other side yet to lose. Two matchdays is far too little to read a title race from, but it does tell you something about Hearts: they won matchday one by four goals to nil and then won a match they were losing, which is a different kind of result.
