The FDH Bank Premiership has stopped for the international window and the second round begins on 10 October, with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets top on thirty points and one first round fixture still outstanding.
All but two clubs have completed their first round programme. Bullets sit on thirty points from fifteen matches, from eight wins, six draws and a single defeat. Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers are a point behind on twenty nine each, with a game in hand on the leaders.
One fixture still to play
Blue Eagles against Mighty Wanderers, held over from the first round, is the only match left before the recess. It is scheduled for 19 September, and it is the reason the first round table cannot be called final. A Wanderers win puts them above Bullets. Anything else leaves the champions on top going into the break.
The Super League of Malawi has confirmed that the second round starts on 10 October. The pause covers the combined FIFA international window that runs from 21 September to 6 October, and it also gives clubs a clear period to complete transfer business before the title race restarts.
What the break does to the market
Outright title prices tend to drift during a break because nothing new arrives to move them. Three clubs separated by one point after fifteen rounds is unusually tight for this league, and the one outstanding fixture on 19 September is the single piece of information that can reset the order before October.
Form lines also age badly across a month. Squads that lose players to international duty come back at different levels of fitness, and the first weekend of a second round is historically the roughest guide to what follows.
