The promotion is Obra Sports, run by Prince Atsu, and the card is named for Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president. The date sits beside Founder’s Day, which marks Nkrumah’s birthday, and the promoters have built the night around that rather than around a single title.
The event goes out live on SuperSport, which puts a Bukom card in front of an audience across the continent rather than only the one inside the arena.
What Allotey is fighting for
Allotey headlines. The World Boxing Association’s ratings for August 2026 place him fifteenth at super flyweight, in a division whose champion is David Jimenez of Costa Rica, so he is inside the world ratings and near the bottom of them. That is the position a Ghanaian usually reaches through a regional belt, and it is the position from which a win over a higher rated opponent moves a career quickly.
His opponent is not named here. One outlet has reported the matchup and no other reachable newsroom carries it, so AXN Sports is holding the name until a second source confirms it. The same applies to the status of the bout, which has been reported as a world title eliminator by a single source.
The rest of the night
Jerry Lartey, the WBA Africa super lightweight champion, is on the card. So is a group of Ghanaian professionals whose bouts had not been finalised when the event was announced, which is normal for a Bukom bill at six weeks out.
The wider point is the arena itself. Bukom has carried Ghanaian professional boxing through a thin period, and a promotion large enough to buy continental television time is a better indicator of the sport’s health here than any one result on the night.
